Over the past few months, we have been working behind the scenes on something new – something I am very excited about: our woollen throws made from Texel wool.

The idea actually came about naturally. After the socks, hikers wool and sheep hides, it seemed obvious to also make something you can really snuggle up under. Something warm, soft and honest. And what could be better than a throw made from Texel sheep's wool?

From Texel wool to blanket

As always, the wool comes from sheep from various Texel farmers. Every year, it remains special to see how much beautiful, full wool the sheep produce. The wool has once again proven to be so strong and resilient that the blankets have become exceptionally thick – warmer and fuller than we had anticipated. Exactly as I had hoped: robust, yet soft and wonderfully thick.

The first time I held the woven sample in my hands, I knew immediately that this would be something special. It smells like wool, feels natural and has that typical Texel look – a little rugged, a little pure.

Two sizes – for every moment

We have opted for two sizes.

The large throw (140×180 cm) is spacious enough to pull over you on the sofa or to put on the bed for some extra warmth.

The smaller throw (100×150 cm) is ideal as a blanket over your legs or in a chair. I also think it's a wonderful size for babies – in the cot or pram. Wool is naturally breathable and regulates temperature, so it never gets too hot or too cold. Everyone deserves such a lovely, natural material, especially the little ones.

Colours and atmosphere

The throws are available in three subtle shades: beige, grey and white. They suit any interior (from rustic to modern) and create that warm, peaceful atmosphere that only wool can provide.

A product to be proud of

I find it remarkable to see how a new product can be created from something that grows so close to home. Texel wool is not your standard wool; it lives and breathes with the island, with the seasons and with the people who care for it.

The fact that we have been able to turn this wool into such beautiful throws is something to be proud of.
