About Skéépe

Skéépe was founded on Texel, amongst the sheep. When you grow up on the island, sheep are almost a given. They are part of the landscape, the seasons and life on Texel. It was only later that we realised just how special the wool and skins of these animals actually are.

What began as a love for Texel sheepskins grew into a brand offering a wide range of wool products of Texel origin. Today, Skéépe’s range includes sheepskins, woollen throws, sheep’s wool socks, knitting wool and walking wool made from Texel sheep’s wool.

Collaboration with Texel farmers

For our wool products, we work together with farmers on Texel. We collect wool from farmers on the island and believe it is important that they receive a fair price in return. This preserves the value of Texel wool and ensures a wonderful natural product is put to good use.

The wool is then washed and processed into various products that suit a lifestyle close to nature. Thanks to this short supply chain, we know exactly where our wool comes from and can continue to work with the quality for which Texel wool is renowned.

Why Texel wool?

Texel has a unique island climate. The combination of wind, sea and open space creates conditions in which sheep can live outdoors all year round. The wool from Texel sheep is renowned for its full texture and natural appearance.

For generations, Texel wool has been used for a wide range of applications. That rich tradition still forms the basis of everything we make. It is a raw material we are proud of and which, in our view, deserves much more attention.

From sheepskins to walking wool

At Skéépe, we believe that wool is much more than just a raw material. That is why we develop various products in which the properties of Texel wool take centre stage.

Our sheepskins are used in the home, on chairs and sofas, providing warmth and atmosphere. We also make woollen throws, sheep’s wool socks, knitting wool and Skéépe Hiking Wool.

Skéépe Hiking Wool is made from wool from Texel sheep and is available via our webshop, TexelseProducten.nl, Kruidvat and Trekpleister. This makes Texel Hiking Wool easily accessible to many people, both online and in-store.

Sustainable use of wool

Wool is a natural product that regrows every year. We believe it is important to treat this raw material with care and to add as much value as possible to wool that is otherwise often underutilised.

By working with local farmers and choosing products with a long lifespan, we aim to contribute in our own way to a more sustainable use of Texel wool.

What drives us is simple: creating beautiful wool products with respect for their origins. From sheepskins to walking wool, from knitting wool to sheep’s wool socks, and from throws to new products still in development. It all starts with the sheep and farmers of Texel.
