Natural wool to protect your feet

Anyone who enjoys walking knows how important healthy feet are. Skéépe walking wool, made from Texel sheep’s wool, helps protect the skin against blisters, chafing and sensitive areas on the feet. The soft wool fibres mould to the skin and help distribute pressure.

Many walkers use walking wool as a preventative measure during long walks, treks or events such as the Four Days Marches. Placing a small tuft of wool on a sensitive area can reduce friction and protect the skin naturally.

A bag of 100 grams of walking wool contains more than enough wool for several walks and is handy to carry in your walking rucksack or sports bag.

Texel sheep’s wool: local and sustainable

Skéépe’s hiking wool is made from wool from Texel sheep. We collect the wool ourselves from local farmers on the island of Texel. The wool is then carefully washed and processed to preserve its natural properties.

Thanks to the salty island climate and the fresh sea breeze, Texel wool is renowned for its strong and resilient fibres. This makes the wool particularly suitable for use during hiking and other activities where feet are subjected to extra strain.

As wool is a natural material, hiking wool is also a sustainable and environmentally conscious choice. It is a renewable resource and fully biodegradable.

What do walkers use hikers wool for?

Walking wool has been used for years by walkers, runners and outdoor enthusiasts who want to protect their feet during long distances. The wool forms a soft layer between the skin and the shoe and helps protect the skin against friction.

Many people use walking wool for:

  • preventing blisters
  • soothing existing blisters
  • chafing or grazes
  • irritated or sensitive skin
  • pressure points on the feet or toes
  • burning or tired feet after long walks
  • care and soothing for corns, bunions and calluses
  • protecting the skin from friction in walking shoes

Because wool is resilient and airy, many walkers also use walking wool for pressure points around corns or calluses. Placing a small tuft of wool on the sensitive area helps distribute the pressure more evenly whilst walking.

How do you use walking wool?

Using walking wool is simple and quick to apply whilst walking.

  1. Take a small tuft of wool from the sachet.
  2. Fluff up the wool by gently pulling it apart.
  3. Place the wool on the area where pressure or friction occurs, for example on the heel, toes or ball of the foot.
  4. Then put on your sock and shoe so that the wool stays firmly in place.

The wool moulds itself to the skin and moves with you whilst walking. Many walkers use walking wool preventatively before setting off, but it can also be used if a sensitive spot develops or a blister forms whilst walking.

The wool can be used several times. Once the wool loses its resilience, it is advisable to use a new piece of wool. After use, the wool can be discarded. As it is a natural product, it is fully biodegradable.

Why choose Skéépe hiker wool?

  • 100% Texel sheep’s wool
  • sourced directly from Texel farmers
  • a sustainable and eco-friendly natural product
  • soft, resilient and comfortable
  • ideal for walkers, athletes and outdoor enthusiasts
  • practical packaging of 100 grams of walking wool

Whether you’re taking a long walk through the dunes, training for a hike or simply want comfortable feet during an active day, walking wool is a simple and natural solution.

Do not use on: Open wounds, damaged skin or if you have a lanolin allergy. For specific conditions or chronic complaints, we advise consulting a doctor first. Wool soothes and cares for the skin, but is not a medicine. Skéépe makes no medical claims; we offer natural wool products for comfort and care.
